    Windows Vista New to Vista and new to Firewire

    I have a new laptop with Vista and a 4 pin firewire slot. I am connecting a scanner and the software is not recoginzing that a scanner is present. I can not find the scanner on the My Computer page. Should I if the connection is working? If not there, does that indicate anything? Thanks.
