My situation is this. I have an 11 year old laptop. This is now ONLY used as a display for a weather station, using a proprietary Windows XP application, so I am not interested in any new Windows features that 1803 might bring. Nevertheless up until now I have let all upgrades proceed.

When I first got my PC I got it all set up the way I liked it then created a system image. I then followed every guide I can find on the internet to disable auto update and telemetry. This worked great for about a year until today. I went to turn off my PC and boom there it was, "Restart and...

Me again,
I have a new Win7 Pro machine. It appears it's only updated to SP-1.
Yesterday I asked it to check for updates. It returned 'Checking for Updates'. It was still checking for updates when I went to bed with no result. Other machines would come back with the number and type of...

I hate Windows 10 updating and restarting machines automatically, although in "advanced options" I have selected "notify to schedule restart".
Is there a way to stop this?
I had the exciting "Video displayed stopped and has recovered" happening since upgrading to Windows 10. I uninstalled that, went to the ASUS site and downloaded the one dated July of 2014. After doing that, the annoying message of the Video display stopping and recovering stopped.
Then today, I...

Assume I enabled auto-update resp. search manually for updates of my 64bit Win 7 Pro system.
How can I exclude certain updates (e.g. KB3035583 as one example) forever from being installed?
Is there an exclusion list file which is accepted by built-in Windows Update Service?

One of the updates for my nice old Acer One (High Definition Audio) does not install.
As we can't select updates, we simply have to install them all, that nasty failing update appears in all subsequent series of updates, which causes them all to fail.
I think we really should have the...
After installing Ag. 12th updates, my View Installed Updates window shows only Aug 12th items. All the previous updates are gone.
Is that normal ?
Correction I should say...... " my view update history shows only Aug 12th items."
I would like to know if there is a way to stop being offered specific Windows updates that do not apply to my personal usage. I use the process where I am notifies if there are updates available and I chose which I desire.

It was just over one year ago, May 28, 2012, to be exact, that I transitioned from running active MSRC cases and writing bulletins to my current role managing software security incidents. A lot has changed in that year - and I’ve dealt with some interesting issues during my tenure - but...

Hi
As some of you have probably noticed I've done a lot of complaining about Google Chrome lately.
It wouldn't display this page correctly for one thing, always left a large blank space at the top with nothing in it.
It wouldn't open links for my mail or other sites.
I tried removing and...

Windows update is misreading a USB 3.0 driver as Accusys Storage.
I installed it by mistake and it disabled the USB 3.0 ports.
How can I instruct Windows Update to no longer suggest this update.
Thanks
