Regarding the security packages its the opposite:
Every single security package from Novemeber 2016 until now is needed if I want to...

Me again,
I have a new Win7 Pro machine. It appears it's only updated to SP-1.
Yesterday I asked it to check for updates. It returned 'Checking for Updates'. It was still checking for updates when I went to bed with no result. Other machines would come back with the number and type of...

I'm currently trying to update from Win 10 version 10249 to version 1151 and using the media creation tool since the update has not yet appeared in Windows Update.
I updated a few other computers to the original version of Win 10 some time ago. When those ISOs were downloaded using the media...

I am seeing quite a few "Optional" updates for Windows 10. Some of those are related to the Update process.
I realize they may just be realigning the Update servers or some necessary change in order to keep the update process working, but are they doing more?

This started with 10159, but I normally watch Task Manager so I can see the download speeds. With 10159 and now on 3 machines with 10162, when the download first starts, the download progress stays at 0%. At that same time, there is a download happening at 50 Mbps and lasts for several...
Although there is an option on the Windows 10 for phones technical preview to allow apps to be updated automatically, just like on Windows Phone 8.1, I have always preferred checking for updates manually.

Hi
While I'm somewhat undecided about how I'm going to update to Windows 8.1, I started wondering about how the update process works.
The last thing I do before I update will be to make an image of my C:\ drive, so I can experiment a little.
If I just run the update from the Windows update...

I have about 12 updates that are taking way too long to install. Right now they're at 65%, tomorrow they might be at 68%, or even 72%. But the point is that they never completely install. Normally I shut my computer off at the end of the work day but nothing updates before the computer shuts all...

Hello,
I'm having a problem with Windows Update. It's managed to install a few updates, bust most of the updates that it automatically finds fail to install (many important ones too - security updates, etc.). A bit frustrating. For the past couple of days, it tries to install the same two...
