I wanted to set up another account in my Windows 7 PC for my daughter so she could have her own desktop , bookmarks and everything. I somehow ended up with all my stuff going under her user name. All my settings are now associated with her and I am on a new account! I don't know how to go...

Assume I have a huge directory tree with lots of files and folders.
Some of them belong to (simplified) user "karl" (or unknown user "S-1-5-21-107808153") others not.
When I execute now a command like
takeown /f * /a /r /d y
then ALL files+folders get the "Administrators" account as owner.
I...

Why do only approx 30% of all folders have "S-1-5-21-151..." as owner and all others "Administrator"?
I dislike these "S-1-5-21-......" owners and...

I've come across a weird issue in Windows 10 Pro x64 1703. In C:\Users\ Windows 10 repeatedly shows 2 weirdly named User folders. I look in Control Panel>User Accounts and as expected I'm the only user.
I delete these 2 bogus folders numerous times a day and they contantly re-appear...

Hi Everybody,
I have a basic question. This is probably all very normal, but as far as I can remember there are only three possible users on my compute .... "me", a "guest", and a mysterious "Administrator".
But, My "C:\User\" DIRECTORY shows a bunch of users I don't recognize, and although...

I'm starting fresh with Win10 and I'm restoring from a Win7 backup, which had three users: one admin account using a first name, and two standard accounts using names like "John's iTunes" and "Mary's iTunes".
My restore will have these names under "Users". I thought I should set up the...
At my age I'm not keen on climbing stairs, so I'm experimenting with transferring files from the PC laptop in the kitchen to/from the PC desktop upstairs. TeamViewer is working fine, and both machines are now in the same home group, for whatever that buys me. Both machines are Win7 SP1. Today I...

Hi! I'm curious if any one here has used any of the W10 recovery options. W10 has several ways to recover from mistakes. W10 has the old stand by Restore to a earlier time, but it has other ways to recover.
I would like to hear what experiences members have had with the other recovery options. I...
