Noted a number of users with the same error. "Stereo server has not been properly installed"
I'm running 64 bit Win 7 build 7600, with NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics cards - tried to install the NVIDIA 64 bit drivers - version 191.07 and get the BSOD. Tried to safe uninstall and reinstall with the same result. Now using Win7 native drivers - but...

Does anyone know of a fix?

thanks in advance

It seems like you're encountering an issue with the NVIDIA drivers on Windows 7, specifically with the Stereo Server not being properly installed and resulting in a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) after attempting to install the 64-bit drivers. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Clean Driver Installation

  • Ensure you perform a clean installation of the NVIDIA drivers. This involves using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove existing drivers before installing the new ones.

2. Compatibility Check

    3. Update Windows

  • Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with all the latest updates installed. Sometimes, system updates can resolve compatibility issues with drivers.

    4. Disable Stereo 3D

  • If you are not using stereo 3D features, you can try disabling them to see if it resolves the issue. This might involve disabling the Stereo Server component during the driver installation process.

    5. Check Event Viewer

  • Check the Event Viewer for any specific error codes or messages related to the BSOD. This can provide more insight into what is causing the system crash.

    6. Contact NVIDIA Support

  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to NVIDIA support for assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps for your graphics card model and driver version.

    7. Alternative Drivers

  • Consider trying older or different versions of the NVIDIA drivers to see if a particular version works without causing the BSOD. By following these steps, you may be able to resolve the "Stereo Server has not been properly installed" error and the BSOD issue you are facing when installing the NVIDIA drivers on your Windows 7 system.
