Microsoft united a sound engineer and a composer in Dubai to create a remarkable soundtrack of the sounds of cricket using the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL and powerful Windows phone apps.

Sound engineer Rajesh Bhatia and composer Tarun Pancholia collaborated to create an audio piece that combines the voices and other sounds of the sport of cricket with music against a rhythmic backbeat.

They used the Lumia 640 XL smartphone to audio-record a cricket match using the free Perfect Recorder app and mixed the sound using the Wave Master app.

Rajesh Bhatia integrates his love for cricket and music to create distinct and uplifting beats.

“Cricket may be the furthest thing away from music, but I hear music in every beat.”

Music is the love of Tarun’s life, so he pursued playing and creating music from an early age. Today, he’s a composer and musician as well as filmmaker.

“I like to think of the world as an infinite library of sounds, all you need to do is find the perfect recipe.”

    — Tarun Pancholia, composer

Have a look at how the two worked together on the cricket field to create their soundtrack. This unique project took place in June, at the peak of Dubai’s summer heat. That didn’t stop the duo from giving their all to make it happen in a short period of time.

Besides using Perfect Recorder and Wave Master on their Lumia 640 XL phones, they used OneDrive to ensure instantaneous exchange of ideas and feedback.

“You have a studio in your pocket at all times.”

Altogether, this made for a perfect combination to #AchieveMore.
