The Help instructions say double click on contact then on 'Details'. However I don't find a 'details' option as per enclosed screenshot.

From your screenshot, it appears you are in the main contact form in Microsoft Outlook but not seeing the 'Details' tab as expected. Let's break down the process to ensure everything is done correctly and suggest a few troubleshooting steps.
### Steps to Add a Birthday to an Outlook Contact
1. Open the Contact:
- Double-click the contact's name to open their full profile. It seems you have successfully done this.
2. Navigate to the 'Details' Tab:

### Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check Ribbon for Tab Options:
- Sometimes, the 'Details' tab might be hidden or minimized. Look at the top ribbon to ensure all options are expanded.

2. Enable 'Details' View:
- Navigate to the contact form and look for view settings or customization options to ensure that all tabs, including 'Details', are visible.
3. Update or Repair Office Installation:
- If the 'Details' tab is missing, your Office installation might need repairs. You can do this via Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Repair.
4. Profile or Add-in Issues:
- Sometimes, profiles or add-ins can cause UI elements to disappear. Try opening Outlook in Safe Mode:
Code:
     Press `Windows Key + R`, then type `outlook /safe` and press Enter.
If those steps do not help, it might be useful to reset the contact form views which can sometimes fix displaying issues.
