It sounds like you've been dealing with network connectivity issues on your Windows 7 system for a while. Constant network drops and subpar download speeds can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these problems:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update Network Drivers:
    • Even though you've tried drivers from Intel, it's worth ensuring you have the latest drivers for your network adapter installed. You can try the following:
      • Go to the Device Manager (Win + X, then select Device Manager).
      • Locate your network adapter under "Network adapters," right-click on it, and select "Update driver."

      • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" to let Windows search for the latest driver.
    []Check Power Management Settings:
    • Make sure that your network adapter's power management settings are not causing any issues:
      • Go to Device Manager, find your network adapter, right-click, and select "Properties."
      • Look for a "Power Management" tab and uncheck any options like "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

    ]Network Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has a built-in Network Troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix network problems:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Internet Connections, then run the troubleshooter.
    []Check Network Cable and Router:
    • Since you mentioned that it works fine through a cable, the issue might be with your Wi-Fi network or router. Try these steps:
      • Restart your router.
      • Change the Wi-Fi channel on your router to avoid interference.
      • Make sure your router firmware is up to date.
    [
    ]Advanced Steps:
    • If the basic steps don't work, you can try resetting TCP/IP settings or using tools like netsh to reset components.

      Additional Notes:

      • Windows 7 (build 7600 RTM) is an older version, and Microsoft has ended support for it. Consider upgrading to a newer version to benefit from improved network capability and security features.
      • If your hardware is compatible, you might want to consider upgrading to Windows 10 or Windows 11 for better performance and support.
Try these steps and see if they help improve your network connectivity and speed. Let me know if you need further assistance!
