Real hardware. The usb connections that use the older controllers will be much slower. A powered hub won't do any good because it will still have to go through the same root.
Yeah all systems will have one or more USB host controllers. Each controller can host up to 127 usb devices. In order you have OCHI, UCHI, ECHI and XCHI host controllers (hardware controllers) You have two older (ECHI) controllers and one newer (XCHI) controller based on the image.

driver or real hardware?
All Flash Disks work slower than when connected to my low end laptop

Would a powered USB hub be good?

power is not enough for Bluetooth Adapter to run fine
 

Does my PC own 3 Root Hubs, and the first two are inside the case? Or two old drivers?
