Hello Steve, It sounds like you are facing an issue where folders and windows in Windows Vista Home Premium are automatically minimizing when you move the cursor away from them. This behavior can be frustrating, but it can be adjusted by changing some settings. Here's how you can try to resolve this issue:

Adjusting Folder Options:

  1. Folder Options:
    • Open any folder on your desktop or in Windows Explorer.
    • Click on the Organize menu and select Folder and search options.

      Adjusting Windows Behavior:

  2. System Settings:
    • Right-click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop and select Properties.
    • Click on Advanced system settings.
    • In the System Properties window, go to the Advanced tab.
    • Under the Performance section, click on Settings.
    • In the Performance Options window, go to the Visual Effects tab.
    • You can try adjusting the settings related to animations and effects to see if it affects the behavior of window minimizing.

      Additional Troubleshooting Steps:

      • Ensure that your system is updated with the latest Windows updates and patches.
      • Check if any third-party software or applications might be causing this behavior by performing a clean boot of Windows. This will help identify if any third-party software is causing conflicts.
      • Run a full system scan with an antivirus program to rule out any malware issues.
These steps should help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue of folders and windows minimizing automatically in Windows Vista Home Premium. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
