Dear friends,

I have a new comp with the following specs:

RAM: Kingston HyperX 12gb 1600MHz DDR3
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1tb

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

I can play in the latest games (such as MW3, Battlefield 3, etc) without any problems. I use 3D applications and render heavy 3D projects. I don't face problems with other applicaions.

I also use Adobe After Effects CS5. I can apply multiple effects and render huge compositions. Only when I apply "Ramp" effects and make changes to it or render compositions with Ramp effect BSOD appears.

Based on the information you provided, it appears to be a hardware-related issue, considering the error code points to a possible hardware failure. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps for BCCode 124 Error:

  1. Update Drivers: Ensure that your GPU drivers, motherboard chipset drivers, and any other relevant drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues that lead to BSOD errors.
  2. Check Hardware Temperatures: Overheating can be a common cause of BSOD errors. Monitor the temperatures of your CPU and GPU during heavy tasks using software like HWMonitor or Core Temp. Ensure that your system is not overheating.
  3. Memory Test: Run a memory diagnostic test using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool or third-party software like MemTest86 to check for any memory related issues.
  4. Check Power Supply: Make sure your power supply unit (PSU) is providing adequate power to all components. Insufficient power supply can lead to stability issues.
  5. Check for Dust Buildup: Ensure your computer is clean inside. Dust buildup can cause overheating issues. Clean the vents, fans, and heatsinks carefully.
  6. Disable Hardware Acceleration: In Adobe After Effects CS5, try disabling hardware acceleration to see if it resolves the issue. This can help identify if the GPU is causing the problem.
  7. Review System Logs: Check the Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings that coincide with the BSOD occurrences. This can provide more insight into what triggers the crash.

    Additional Information:

The BCCode 124 error typically indicates a hardware issue, such as faulty hardware or drivers. It's important to systematically go through these troubleshooting steps to isolate the cause of the problem. If the issue persists after trying these steps, it might be helpful to share the files you mentioned containing information on the BSOD so that we can further analyze the error details and provide more specific guidance on how to fix the problem. Feel free to upload the files so that we can assist you more effectively.
