I find it interesting that while playing Call of Duty: Modern Wafare 2 last night on my newest gaming rig. Which has 8GB of DDR3 ram, the game crashed because it had "ran out of memory".. The funny thing is I am using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 so I find it very odd that it "ran out of memory".. But I checked task manager just to humour my OS and to my surprise it actually did use every bit of available memory.. There were 16MB of free memory left out of 8GB's.. This only happened at one part in the game, and of all parts, it's the ending of the game, where your flying down the river in the raft and you shoot the chopper down. As soon as the raft goes over the waterfall the game would crash..
What makes this even more odd to me is that my video card is no sloutch.. It's a Radeon HD 5870 1GB PCI-Express.. So I mean I've got tons of GPU.. But apparently not enough for this one scene in the game..
The fix for this was very simple. You just change the Texture Settings to "Automatic" . After doing this, the game worked perfectly fine and didn't crash at all.
I agree that this is definitely one of the better games!!
