Can I turn off snap-to-grid for icons on desktop?

    I would like to slide my icons closer to the edge and bunch them up more. I don't see a "snap-to-grid" attribute anywhere, but that's what I think is happening. Can I change it?

    If you right click the desktop and go to View, it has that option listed...
