I have 2 SATA drives with the OS on 1 and data on the other. I have a spare IDE drive that I use for backup. What I would like to know is. Will the IDE drive now cause Windows 7 to run slow after the log-in screen? The reason I ask is that the time from login to usability has increased since adding the drive and adding JAVA. I have disabled the 1 file in JAVA that is recommended to disable, but my time is still long about 30 seconds compare to almost instant before.

Try unplugging it and checking to see if your time improves. If it does you know its the drive. :p
