I am trying to format my Windows XP running computer with my Windows 7 disc, but I cannot due to the reason stated in the title.

Any help would be really fantastic.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you using a USB keyboard? Do you have Legacy USB devices turned on in the bios?

likely you need a system bios uodate - you got the latest?
other than that as suggested before use the ps2 port

There is really no need to do this if he enables Legacy Support in the BIOS, but he will need to use a wired keyboard to do it.
