I am running Windows 7 professional 64bit service pack 1--Problem is that suddenly Windows "CAN'T READ CD NOT FORMATTED"--I want to burn COREL DRAW FILES to a recordable disc, used to be able to see "AUTOPLAY" open upon CD insert--no longer does it--went into "AUTOPLAY CONFIGURE" set to Windows Media Player--but still nothing--I can put a CD into drive and it does show whats on it--it just doesn't allow to burn new files--I put several CD's in to be sure it's not the media--but still get same CAN'T READ pop up.How can I get my FORMAT feature to work again.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with your Windows 7 system where you're unable to burn new files to a recordable disc due to a "CAN'T READ CD NOT FORMATTED" error. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem: 1. Check the CD/DVD Drive: - Make sure the CD/DVD drive is working correctly and can read/write discs. Try using a different disc to see if the issue persists. 2. Check Autoplay Settings: - Since the Autoplay feature is not working as expected, try the following: - Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Autoplay. - Ensure that "Burn content to disc using Windows" or the appropriate option is selected for CD and DVD media. 3. Check Recording Software: - If you're using third-party software to burn discs, ensure that the software is functioning correctly and is set up to recognize your CD/DVD drive. 4. Check Disc Formatting: - If you're receiving a message that the CD is not formatted, you might need to format the disc before you can write new files to it. - Right-click on the CD/DVD drive in File Explorer > Format. Follow the on-screen instructions to format the disc. 5. Update Drivers: - Ensure that your CD/DVD drive has the latest drivers installed. You can update the drivers through Device Manager. 6. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date by checking for and installing any available Windows updates. 7. Try Different Discs: - Test with a different brand or type of recordable disc to rule out any compatibility issues with the discs. 8. Run Hardware Troubleshooter: - Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix hardware issues. You can access it by going to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the issue and hopefully regain the ability to burn new files to recordable discs on your Windows 7 system.
