Windows 10 Changing how laptop keyboard behaves

Hi, I have a new laptop, but instead of a ctrl key next to the alt button, I have this second "|\" key, but I really want that to be a ctrl key. Switching out the physical key I know isn't such a big deal if I get my hands on the same thing, but is it possible to tell all my software to pretend this is a ctrl key instead of what it is?

I would use PowerToys which is a free Microsoft utility. It also includes a keyboard remapper
