Hey all, i\'ve upgraded my win7 yesterday to win8. But in win7, i\'ve chaged the user directory from c:\\users\\NAME to d:\\users\\NAME, creating in c:\\users an alias from d:\\users.
But I dont know how can I do it in win8. All my files are in d:\\ and the partition c:\\ is only 17gb free, i dont wanna use for storage files.

Can someone help me?
thanks.

Renan.

Renan, It sounds like you want to change the default user directory location in Windows 8 from the C: drive to the D: drive, just like you had set up in Windows 7. Although Windows 8 does not have a built-in feature to change the user directory location, there are some workarounds you can use to achieve this. Here's a guide to help you move your user profile to D: drive:

Steps to Move User Profile to D: Drive in Windows 8:

  1. Create a New User Account:
    • Create a new user account in Windows 8 with administrative privileges. This account will be used to move your current user profile to the D: drive.
[]Log in with the New Account:
    • Log in to Windows 8 using the new user account you created.

]Move the User Profile to D: Drive:
    • Use the built-in Windows features to move your user profile to the D: drive.
      • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings > Settings under the User Profiles section.
      • Select your current user profile and click "Copy To."
      • In the Copy To dialog box, enter the path to the new location on the D: drive where you want your user profile to be stored.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
    []Update Registry Entries:
    • To inform Windows about the new location of your user profile, you need to update some registry entries.
      • Warning: Editing the registry incorrectly can cause serious system issues. Proceed with caution.
      • Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
      • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microstoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList.
      • Find the entry for your user profile and change the ProfileImagePath value to the new location on the D: drive.
      • Restart your computer.
    [
    ]Test the Changes:
    • Log in with your original user account that's now located on the D: drive and ensure everything works correctly. By following these steps, you should be able to relocate your user profile to the D: drive in Windows 8. Remember to back up your important files before making any major changes to your system. Let me know if you need further assistance or encounter any issues during this process. Good luck with the relocation of your user profile!
