For a command prompt, if I set the 'Start in:' setting to a particular path to try to get the command prompt to open in a particular folder, it is ignored and the command prompt always opens in the folder of cmd.exe, which is c:\windows/system32. In Windows7 if I use the 'Start in:' setting the command prompt opens in the folder of that setting. Is there any way to have the Windows8 command prompt work as it does in Windows7 ?

Solution
In Windows 8, the Command Prompt's "Start in" setting within the properties has been deprecated, so it doesn't function as expected compared to Windows 7. However, a workaround is available to open Command Prompt in a specific folder. Here's how you can achieve this: 1. Pin to Quick Access: - Navigate to the desired folder in File Explorer. - Click on the address bar to reveal the folder path. - Drag the folder icon (shown to the left of the address) to the Command Prompt icon on your taskbar. - This will pin that folder location to the Command Prompt icon for easy access. 2. Context Menu Option: - While holding down the Shift key, right-click on the folder. - From the context menu, choose "Open command window here" or...

By using these methods, you can quickly access the Command Prompt in the desired folder without the need to specify it in the properties setting. Let me know if you need more help with this.
