Steps to Troubleshoot Credential Manager Issue:

  1. Check Credential Manager Service:
    • Ensure that the Credential Manager service is running on your Windows 7 system. To do this:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
      • Look for "Credential Manager" in the list of services and make sure its status is set to "Running."
    []Import Backup Credentials:
    • If you made a backup of your credentials before upgrading to Windows 7, try importing them back into the Credential Manager:
      • Open Credential Manager.
      • Look for an option to import credentials or restore from backup and follow the on-screen instructions.
    [
    ]Internet Explorer Settings:
    • For Internet Explorer, ensure that the option to use Windows credentials is enabled:
      • In Internet Explorer, go to Tools (gear icon) -> Internet Options -> Security tab.
      • Select the appropriate zone (e.g., Local intranet, Trusted sites) and click on the "Custom level" button.
      • Scroll down to find the setting "Automatic logon with current username and password" and make sure it is enabled.
    []Internet Explorer Protected Mode:
    • If you are using Internet Explorer, try disabling Protected Mode to see if it resolves the issue:
      • Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab.
      • Uncheck the box for "Enable Protected Mode" for all zones, restart the browser, and check if the Credential Manager works.
    [
    ]Firefox Configuration:
    • For Firefox, ensure that it is set to use Windows credentials:
      • Type about:config in the address bar.
      • Search for network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris and add the website URLs you want to trust.
      • Set network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies to true.
    []Update Browser:
    • Ensure that you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer or Firefox, as outdated versions can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
    [
    ]Clear Browser Cache:
    • Clear the browser cache and cookies to ensure that old credentials are not causing conflicts with the Credential Manager.
  2. Restart the System:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with the Credential Manager.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • If none of the above steps work, you may need to recreate the credentials manually in the Credential Manager.
      • Consider checking for Windows updates or installing any relevant patches that may address issues with the Credential Manager.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues you are facing with the Credential Manager on Windows 7. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
