Hi

I just replaced my Win7 RC with the production version (64-bit Pro) and changed the usage of the computer from a spare to my main computer. Now I need to be able to print :)

I am using a Brother HL-2170W wireless printer and the driver bundled with Win7 found the printer and seems just fine except for one deal-breaker. Unlike the Brother driver, there is no provision to create a custom paper size. If I can't create a custom paper size then I will have to install the Vista driver from Brother and I was hoping to avoid that.

Any ideas on how to create a custom size?

ps - I did manage a work-around with the Win7 driver using the margin settings to keep the print area in my paper size but I would still like the real solution.

Thanks

This custom size might become available in your printer properties then. 3. Using Printer Preferences: - Within the Printer Properties, look for a "Preferences" or "Advanced" tab. - Check if there is an option to enter a custom paper size under the paper settings. 4. Compatibility Modes: - You can try running the Brother printer driver installer in compatibility mode for Windows Vista. This may allow you to install the Vista driver on Windows 7 with the custom paper size feature. 5. Contact Brother Support: - If none of the above steps work, reaching out to Brother's customer support might provide you with a solution or workaround specific to your printer model and its compatibility with Windows 7. By attempting these steps, you may be able to find a way to set a custom paper size without having to resort to installing the Vista driver. If you have further questions or need assistance with any of these steps, feel free to ask!
