Windows 10 Deny permissions for specific users

I'm trying to deny permissions for a file for a specific user.

The system we use is that each user has a folder structure on their C drive and they are all synced using Sugarsync. If changes are made on any PC they are propagated to the other PCs.

I have the computer name of the one I want to deny and I've tried adding it to the permissions tab for the file but because it is a different computer it won't let me. Seems to only let me add a user for the PC I'm using.

Is there a way to do this?

If they're not on a domain then no since the computers don't share a common security database.

You can copy the information to a Nas and then lock that to certain users... In general the system you have is a disaster waiting to happen

Hmm, not what I was hoping for but useful to know - thanks.

Is there a way to do it on individual machines? I tried creating lock files and putting them in certain folders and removing permissions in the hope that it would prevent parent folders from being moved but it didn't work. It only stopped the file from being moved out of the folder it was in.

There are only two problematic machines (or users...) so while not ideal something like this would be a suitable workaround.
