I bought a laptop with home premium that has the key sticker on the bottom. The laptop is loaded with bloatware. I would like to do a clean install of just Win 7. I also have home premium on my desktop. Could I use the disc I got for my desktop and install it onto my laptop and use the laptop key to activate it? Thanks.

I just tried to do the same thing you want to do, but I was using XP. My laptop (Dell) has the WinXP key on the bottom. I tried to use my upgrade version of XP to reinstall, and it said that the OEM key was not valid.

I do not know how the OEM install works and there were some other things going on, like a replaced motherboard, so my situation may be different from yours.

I'm not sure but I think you can edit files and burn a new disk for XP You would have to look into slipstreaming I don't know about Vista and Windows 7. I'll do some looking on my old pc and see if I can find anything useful. here are some places with forums that you might search
