I have done a clean instal of Win7 RC on a new drive "G", Vista is still on Drive "C".
Eventualy Vista will go and I would like Drive to Change Drive G to Drive C as my boot drive. At present I am dual bootuing, C or G

I have tried using the Drive manager also Acronis Disk Director and had lots of "repair Drive" notices and some blue screens but have not succeeded in changing the boot Drive.
Would someone please like to tell me how to do it?

:confused::)

To change your boot drive from Drive G to Drive C in your dual-boot Windows 7 RC (on Drive G) and Windows Vista (on Drive C) setup, you'll need to perform a few steps carefully. Here's a general guide on how to accomplish this:

Overview of Steps:

  1. Backup Important Data: Before proceeding, ensure you have backups of all critical data to prevent any potential data loss.
  2. Windows 7 Installation Repair: You will need to use the Windows 7 installation disc to repair the installation. This process will help in setting up the boot configuration.
  3. Change Drive Letters: After the repair, the Drive C will become the active Windows installation. You might need to change the drive letters for the partitions as...

  4. Modify Boot Configuration: Use the System Configuration utility to make sure that Windows 7 is set as the default operating system.

    Detailed Steps:

  5. Boot from Windows 7 Installation Disc:
    • Insert the Windows 7 installation disc and boot from it.
    []Repair Windows 7 Installation:
    • When the installation screen appears, choose the option to repair your computer.
    • Select your Windows 7 RC installation on Drive G for repair.
    • Let the repair process finish.
    [
    ]Change Drive Letters:
    • Once the repair is done, reboot the system.
    • Go to Disk Management (you can type "diskmgmt.msc" in the Start menu) to change drive letters.
    • Assign Drive C to the partition where Windows 7 RC is installed (previously Drive G).
    []Modify Boot Configuration:
    • Open the System Configuration utility by typing "msconfig" in the Run dialog.
    • In the Boot tab, set Windows 7 as the default operating system.
    [
    ]Reboot:
    • Save the changes and reboot your system.
    • Ensure that Windows 7 on Drive C boots up correctly. By following these steps, you should be able to successfully change your boot drive from Drive G to Drive C, making Windows 7 RC the primary operating system. Remember to proceed with caution and ensure you have backups in case anything goes wrong. If you encounter any issues during the process, feel free to ask for further assistance!
