Hi I have installed Windows 8.1 on a separate drive. Windows 10 already installed on mt Dell desktop
I have two questions :
1. Does or should I disable fast boot and secure boot in Bios?
2. I am using easy bcd to set up the dual boot option screen. Which bootloader should I use as default 10 or 8
1?
Any and all advise appreciated

Solution
In a dual-boot environment, when you have Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on separate drives, it's advisable to consider specific settings in the BIOS and the bootloader configuration. Here are the answers to your questions: 1. Disable Fast Boot and Secure Boot in BIOS: - Fast Boot: Disable Fast Boot to ensure that both operating systems boot correctly. Fast Boot may cause issues in a dual-boot setup as it speeds up the boot process and might interfere with the bootloader. - Secure Boot: Secure Boot is less of a concern in a dual-boot scenario with Windows 8.1 and 10, as both support Secure Boot. However, if you encounter any boot issues, disabling Secure Boot can help troubleshoot problems related to bootloaders. 2...

However, if you encounter any boot issues, disabling Secure Boot can help troubleshoot problems related to bootloaders. 2. Choose Default Bootloader for Dual Boot: - Using EasyBCD to configure your dual-boot screen is a good choice. You can configure the default operating system for booting through EasyBCD. - If both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are independent installations (each having its bootloader), EasyBCD will provide a bootloader for choosing the operating system during bootup. You can set either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 as the default OS in EasyBCD based on your preference. - Selecting a default OS can be based on which OS you use more frequently or prefer as the primary boot option. - Ensure you have created a proper boot entry in EasyBCD for each OS so that the dual-boot configuration functions seamlessly. After making changes in BIOS settings and configuring the bootloader settings using EasyBCD, test the dual-boot configuration to ensure both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 can be booted successfully. If you encounter any boot issues or if the dual-boot menu isn't working as expected, you can revisit these settings to fine-tune the setup for optimal performance.
