ok Ive read through the other posts to see if anyone else has the same problem as me but I cant see anything

Ive got vista 64 and windows 7 64 dual-booted on separate hdds. Both are installed fine but Vista wont connect to the internet (it did before). Its confusing because windows 7 will just fine. Vista shows as connected but when actually going on a browser the page never loads.

anyone guess whats going on here?

Solution
It seems like you are facing an issue with your Windows Vista installation not being able to connect to the internet, even though Windows 7 on the same system can connect without any problems. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Check Network Settings: - Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center in Windows Vista. - Check if the network connection is set up correctly and if the correct network adapter is selected. 2. Update Drivers: - Make sure that the network drivers for Windows Vista are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. - You can check the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers for your network adapter. 3. Restart Network...

Restart Network Devices: - Restart your modem and router to ensure that they are functioning properly. Sometimes a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. 4. Disable IPv6: - In some cases, disabling IPv6 can help resolve internet connectivity issues in Windows Vista. - Go to Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings -> Right-click on your network adapter -> Select Properties. - Uncheck the box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click OK. 5. Reset Winsock and TCP/IP: - Sometimes resetting Winsock and TCP/IP can fix network-related problems. - Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
Code:
netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset
6. Firewall and Security Software: - Disable any third-party firewall or security software temporarily to check if they are blocking the internet connection. 7. Check Proxy Settings: - Ensure that proxy settings are configured correctly in Windows Vista. Incorrect proxy settings can prevent internet access. 8. DNS Settings: - Check the DNS settings in Vista. You can try setting your DNS server to a public one like Google's (8.8.8.8). After trying these steps, restart your computer and see if the issue is resolved. If the problem persists, it might be helpful to run network diagnostics tools or seek further assistance from a technical support professional.
