Windows 7 Empty tab in IE 9

Hi all,

When I click on a link in a web page I get an empty tab. Not an about.blank but empty (see attached pic).

This doesn't happen every time, but becoming more ofter and annoying.

I'm running:
Win 7 Ultimate (updated)
Norton AV 2012 (updated and full scan in safe mode...found nothing)

Link Removed
Any ideas?

Yes....malware, spyware and trojans....make sure system if free from infection. Next clear the browser cache and see if problem persists.

I followed your thinking and downloaded and installed Malwarebytes.

Ran full scan twice...no joy...still happening

Next possible cause is that IE 9 itself is corrupted. A quick un-install and re-install might do the trick.

 

[Trouble]

There is a technet discussion here IE9 open in new window/tab does not load which looks like a similar if not identical problem and a link to a registry file which seems to address the problem for both IE8 and IE9, have a look and see if it's pertinent.
