This is the first post for me here though I used the forum many times to solve or tweak settings in windows 7 so thanks guys !!
my problem is that when some error happens the exclamation sound should fire, this is what used to be until suddenly it doesn't work anymore :(
I tried to see the default beep and asterisk and exclamation sounds in the sound dialog box but they all work fine when i press the play button.
also i tried sfc / scannow and nothing changed !!!
Plz help guys I can't figure it out at all !!:(((

Solution
If you right click on the speaker icon and select Volume mixer, do you have a volume control for system sounds and is it turned up?

If not you might look through some of the other options in the sound Volume control options.

Solution
yah... verify your sound works... click your speaker and then click the slider.. if you see a little green showing, it's working and if you don't hear it, check your wireing.

IT is a double post and I couldn't get it removed !!
I have a laptop so speaker is internal and other sound events ( insert/ remove USB devices ) are working fine !!??
