While it may be a short term solution, there's a beta security program named ESET Endpoint Security (Beta) that runs well on Windows 8 CP. It's good through 04/30/2012.
ESET has always delivered great security products, and is working hard to deliver more. For those who doesn't trust Windows Defender (a re-branded MSE), this is a great solution. Runs quite well on my PC, doesn't slow it at all (noticeably).

Be sure to disable Windows Defender (the same way you would in Windows 7) & disable Windows Firewall prior to the install.
One good thing about testing Beta products for security companies is that most will give a decent discount at the end of the trial. Also, this is a good indicator that the regular version of ESET Smart Security should run fine.
Be sure to select the correct bit version for your install.
