Windows 7 Express Card / ESata unmount issues

I use an Esata external drive which Win 7 has not difficulty mounting from the Express Card Adapter that plugs into the PCI port. When I click to remove the device or the adapter the "Safe to Remove Device" pops up but it immediately remounts after. Is there a solution to this or an HP driver issue. This does not occur when I remove Flash Drives or use the USB cable for the same external drive. Thanks.
