Hello.

Is there a way to set icons to their basic picture so that they don't change when windows reads them. For example, when windows indexes, or whatever it does, some movie, it changes media player icon to first frame of that movie. I don't have a problem with movies, but it changing Autocad icons is just to confusing since it's mostly white area and you can't really distinguish it from word or notepad icons. What i want is to set them not to change and to keep their original autocad image all the time.

Thank you

To prevent Windows from automatically changing the icons of specific file types or programs, you can customize the icons manually. Here's how you can set custom icons for specific file types or programs to ensure they always display the desired image:

Method 1: Changing File Type Icons

  1. Choose an Icon: Find an icon image you want to use. Ensure it's in a suitable format like .ico or .png.
  2. Select a File Type: Right-click on a file of the type you want to change the icon for (e.g., a .dwg file for AutoCAD).
  3. Properties: Click on "Properties."
  4. Change Icon: In the Properties window, go to the "General" tab and click on "Change Icon."
  5. Browse for Icon: Browse to select the icon image you...

  6. Apply Changes: Click "OK" to apply the new icon.

    Method 2: Changing Program Icons

  7. Create a Shortcut: Right-click on the program's shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.
  8. Properties: Click on "Properties."
  9. Change Icon: In the Shortcut tab, click on "Change Icon."
  10. Browse for Icon: Browse to the location of the icon you want to use for the program.
  11. Apply Changes: Click "OK" to apply the new icon. By following these steps, you can set custom icons for specific file types or programs, such as AutoCAD, to ensure that their icons remain consistent and do not change, even when Windows reads or indexes them.
