I tried Windows 10. I found it very trying. I reloaded Win 7 but that backup had the flying window on the task bar asking me to reserve my free win10. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it? I am NOT going there again.

Follow the steps in this article !

MS re-issues this update(s) periodically.
You should set updates on "check automatically but ask me whether I want to download" and lookout which updates you install in the future...

Actually, I wanted to try it! I tried it and it was a total waste of time and could be classified as a security breech, so I loaded my old win7 from an image backup, but I'd made it while that idiot flying window was on the task bar. How was I to know that I'd have to work over an hour to remove it? I guess it can sit there until I finish the conversion to linux.

Thank you for the information and I guess this supplies that much more incentive to get the conversion job done!

I understand you... ;)
A lot of Windows users feel the same thing at this time.

I finally decided just to hide it. It doesn't seem to eat anything, so it can stay there until I reinstall 7 or another OS. Probably the latter.
