Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition x64 Bit Beta Build 7000 on Compaq Preserio CQ45.

User: Administrator with UAC to the minimum level.

Hardware: GongTong EDGE Modem into the T-Express card slot.

Trouble: Driver installation says the driver is not digitally signed and this version of Windows requires hardware drivers to be digitally signed for installation. The device driver installs but the device is reported to be NOT FUNCTIONAL in the Device Manager screen.

History: I have successfully used this piece of hardware on my previous Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Bit without any trouble as well as Microsoft Windows VISTA Ultimate Edition.

  7. Choose "Disable Digital Driver Signature Enforcement": This option temporarily disables driver signature enforcement for the current boot.

Method 3: Sign the Driver Yourself (Advanced)

  8. Obtain a Code Signing Certificate: Purchase a code signing certificate from a trusted certificate authority.
  9. Sign the Driver Yourself: Use tools like signtool.exe in the Windows SDK to digitally sign the driver file.
  10. Install the Driver: After signing the driver, try installing it again.

    Method 4: Update Windows

Ensure your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Sometimes, newer updates include fixes or changes related to driver signing.

    Method 5: Contact the Manufacturer

Reach out to GongTong's support team to inquire about digitally signed drivers compatible with Windows 7. They might have an updated driver that meets Windows 7's driver signing requirements.
