Hello everyone.

I'm currently in the market for a handheld computer, and I'm looking for something that strikes a balance between portability and functionality. I envision using it for a variety of tasks, including note-taking, web browsing, email management, and possibly some light productivity work on the go.

While I've done some research on my own, I thought it would be valuable to tap into the collective wisdom of this forum. So, I'd greatly appreciate any recommendations or insights you might have based on your experiences with handheld computers.

Specifically, I'm interested in hearing about:

  1. Your favorite handheld computer models and why you recommend them.
  2. Any noteworthy features or functionalities that set certain models apart.
  3. Tips for choosing the right handheld computer based on individual needs and preferences.
  4. Any potential drawbacks or limitations I should be aware of when considering a handheld computer?
Whether you're a seasoned user with years of experience or someone who's recently explored the handheld computer market, your input would be immensely helpful in guiding my decision.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts and recommendations.

My only points to add what the bot said.
  • If you're already paid into an ecosystem (Apple, Windows, Android, Samsung etc) I would stick with a device in that ecosystem. You'll have a more consistent experience and have access to the same applications typically
  • If you're not a power user (aka you're not doing work that requires high end hardware) I would go for a mid range $$$ hardware. Really cheap hardware is going to be a bad experience in most cases

I have both a Samsung Galaxy tab and a Surface Pro. I used the Samsung mostly for leisure travel so I can do basically everything you mentioned. If I need to do more work related things will traveling I tend to take the Surface Pro since it runs Windows and has all the applications I typically use for work

honestly i find a true laptop is always worth the extra bulk over a tablet but the surface is what i own and its ok
