Good day Win7Forums! First post here.

I currently have a computer happily running Windows XP Pro without a video card installed (It was removed after installation and no longer in my possession). Now that it's getting a bit slower I want to do a reïnstall and get Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate in the process. However, during installation the good old remote desktop obviously won't work. Therefore my question: Is it possible to install Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate without a video adapter? And if so, how can it be done?

It will probably help to give my hardware setup here so here goes:
- Motherboard: Asus P7H55d-M EVO
- CPU: Intel I5 750
- Harddrive: 2x Samsung spinpoint F3 500GB
- GPU: N/A

As a final note: Trying this is as much a hobby to me as it is mandatory, so even if there is a better solution, I just want to go ahead and try if this can be pulled off anyway ;)

Hello and welcome to Win7Forums! Installing Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate without a video adapter can be a bit tricky, but it is possible with a few workarounds. Here's how you can attempt to install Windows 7 on a system without a video adapter: 1. Prepare Your Installation Media: - Create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate installation files. 2. BIOS Setup: - Enter your BIOS settings and make sure that the "Onboard Graphics" or "Intel Integrated Graphics" option is enabled (if available). This will allow your motherboard to provide basic video output even without a dedicated graphics card. 3. Installation Process: - Connect your monitor to the onboard video output on the motherboard. - Start the computer with the Windows 7 USB drive inserted. - Follow the on-screen instructions to boot from the USB and begin the Windows 7 installation process. 4. Using Remote Desktop: - Since you mentioned that Remote Desktop won't work during installation, you may need to proceed with the installation without it. - Once Windows 7 is installed, you can install the necessary drivers for your video adapter to enable Remote Desktop access. Given your hardware setup, the Asus P7H55d-M EVO motherboard includes onboard graphics support, which should allow for basic video output during the installation process. While it's unconventional to install a Windows OS without video output, your determination to make it work as a hobby is admirable. Should you encounter any difficulties during the installation, feel free to ask for assistance. Good luck with your Windows 7 installation endeavor! If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask.
