I recently bought my laptop with Windows 7. My son created a User Account with Admin right. He went back to college and deleted his account by control panel, user account delete method. There in my C:\User\ directory is his user account folder with a lock on it. I can't delete it, even though I took ownership and full control of the folder by right clicking the folder and going thru the security tab. I keep getting "Need to provide admin permission to delete folder" or " require permission from S-1-5-21-etc-etc to make changes to folder" every time I try to delete it. I searched the web but most of the suggestions they gave did not work... I'm at my wits' end right now and don't know what to do to get rid of it. I'm afraid to create any User Account at all now...

Hello and Welcome. : )

Set full control with all the boxes checked to allow for the following groups:

Administrators
Trustedinstaller

If you truly don't need the folder, my suggestion would be to boot off a live Linux disc, and delete it...

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Download | Ubuntu

Download the .iso file
Use isoburn.exe to burn it to a disc
Restart the computer...
Press f12 or whatever you need to to get to the boot menu...
Choose your disc drive
When Linux Is booted, it should say something along the lines of "try ubuntu"
Click the button, and at the top left corner there should a menu "Places"
Cick places--> and go to "local file system"
Then you should be able to navigate to the folder...
I.E. Users folder...
If you need any more help, I can walk you through it on the phone...
