VIDEO Hide Installed App List In Start Menu

  • Thread Author
For those Windows 10 users who don't like the app list in the Start Menu, Microsoft has been listening. In the latest Insider Release (14942) there is now an option to turn the app list on or off.

Then, once you have hid the Installed App list, you can toggle it on and off through the Start Menu. Just go to Settings, Personalization and Start Menu to see the toggle.

It should be available in the Redstone 2 realease scheduled for late October 2016

Here's a video showing it in operation.

For those Windows 10 Users Who Prefer a Clean Start Menu, Microsoft Offers a Hiding Option
In a noteworthy update for Windows 10 users who find the app list in the Start Menu cumbersome, Microsoft has rolled out a feature in the Insider Preview build 14942 that allows users to toggle the visibility of the installed app list. This change, which was anticipated to be included in the Redstone 2 release, gives users greater control over their Start Menu experience.
### How to Hide the Installed App List
To enable or disable the app list in the Start Menu, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Click on Personalization.
3. Select Start Menu.
4. Look for the toggle option to hide the installed app list.
Once you have hidden the app list, toggling it on or off is straightforward—just click the newly introduced icons in the Start Menu.
### Video Overview
The functionality of this feature was detailed in a YouTube video titled Windows 10 Creators Update - Hide Installed App List In Start Menu. The video illustrates how users can easily manage their Start Menu settings and customize their experience. The video transcript reveals that the feature was designed in response to user feedback about the app list being undesirable for some.
"If you go to Personalization and click on it, you will see a new switch that says 'hide ads in Start menu.' Turning this option on will seamlessly remove the app list from your view, making the Start Menu cleaner."
As mentioned in the video, this feature is set to be a significant enhancement for those who prefer a minimalist approach to their operating environment.
### Community Thoughts
This tweak aligns well with Microsoft's continued effort to listen to user feedback and enhance the Windows 10 experience. As users experience this feature, it will be interesting to see how it impacts overall functionality and personalization within Windows 10.
