Is there a plugin or something that makes WMP automatically play the next file? Aka, if I have a two files in a folder, a.mp3 and b.mp3, and I am playing a.mp3, a plugin that would make WMP automatically movie to b.mp3 when a.mp3 ends.

Without having to right click -> Play with Windows Media Player on the folder every time, or create playlists.

My parents are whining about this missing feature. I have told them about the right click on folder -> play with Windows Media Player feature, but they would find it more convinient to select songs from windows explorer, not from WMP, and have WMP move to the next song when the current song ends.

PS: Clicking "Play all" also doesn't work. If i decide to select a song from Windows explorer (by double clicking on it), and not from WMP, the ability to automatically play next file vanishes.

Solution
To achieve the functionality you are looking for in Windows Media Player (WMP), where it automatically moves to the next file in a folder after playing the current one, you can make use of a feature called "Auto Playlist." Here's how you can set this up in Windows Media Player:

Steps to Create an Auto Playlist in Windows Media Player:

  1. Create a New Auto Playlist:
    • Open Windows Media Player.
    • Go to the "Library" tab and click on "Create playlist."
    • Choose "Create auto playlist."
    []Set Criteria for Auto Playlist:
    • Name your playlist (e.g., "Automatic Playlist").
    • Set the criteria. You can choose to include all music from a specific folder or with specific properties.

    • In the "Auto Playlist" properties, go to the "Playback" tab.
    • Check the box that says "Randomize playback order."
  2. Save and Play:
    • Save the auto playlist.
    • Double-click on the auto playlist to start playing all songs in random order from that folder.

      Additional Tips:

      • Ensure that the folder containing your music files is added to the Windows Media Player library.
      • When you double-click on a file in Windows Explorer, you can set WMP as the default program to open that file type, which should help maintain the auto-play functionality.
By setting up an Auto Playlist in Windows Media Player, you can enjoy continuous playback of music files in a folder without the need to manually select each file. This should address the issue your parents are facing with transitioning to the next song automatically.
