Windows 7 how do you delete a .bat log file that is waiting for a reply ?

I have a log file that is waiting for an answer to the overwrite command.
I can't delete the log and I can't delete the file because it says it's in use(both files)

Rebooting is pretty much not an option..... thanks, Linda

I second David. Unlocker is a neat one, helpful in many cases.

With Windows 7, you shouldn't see any .bat or other DOS-type windows flashing or waiting for command / reply - it's quite certainly some harmful or other "extra" you've got somewhere along the road. Not lethal, necessarily, but most probably something not dearly wanted.

We seem to have an ever increasing number of attachments with installed programs. You might do wisely in checking your newly installed programs, and uninstalling any you find suspicious, or any you don't know - of course, a too heavy hand is not recommended? These attachments usually install, thus you need to uninstall them, preferably also doing a registry check / cleanse with, say, CCleaner.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. If you manage to delete the .bat file with success, it's fine. But lurking may be the one who creates that file. Take it step by step.
