Windows 7 How to Add a Countdown Ticker to Windows 7 Desktop for Cruise Countdown

I previously had Windows XP and I was able to put a desktop "countdown" ticker on my desktop to countdown the days until our next cruise. I have tried to do this with Windows 7 but so far cannot figure out how to do it. Anyone know if one can be displayed on the desktop?

how did you do it in XP? Did you use a program to countdown for you?
