Windows 7 Importing .pst File Into Outlook 2007 Adds All Folders To Existing Email Account - How to correct?

Hello, I recently imported a .pst file (from a completely different email account) into Outlook 2007 and rather create a separate account with all of the folders, it added all of these folders into my current Hotmail account.

Does anyone know how to resolve or correct this issue? I don't want all of these folders in my Hotmail account. I have a feeling this was caused by an option that I did not select properly when importing. Please let me know if you need a screen shot to see what I'm referring to.

That's normal. If you want the associated account you will need to add the account first. A pst file is just the email's, no account data.

Hi, I figured out what I did - I did an IMPORT as opposed to OPEN of the PST file (huge difference). I spent the day today manually removing folders and emails from Hotmail.
