Windows 7 Install to a new HD

I have XP Pro on one of my computers and want to install Win7 Home Premium Upgrade.
However, I would like to change the HD to a larger one and install Win7 on it.
In the past, the install program would just ask for the old disk.
Is this the case with Win7?
Or do I need to reinstall XP on the new larger HD and then do the Win7 install?

You will need to have Windows XP previously installed in order for the Windows 7 Upgrade install to validate the product key. Please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually.

Thats what I was afraid of. I have moved all data to my server.
I knew I would need a "custom" install.
Looks like I will have to install XP on the new HD before upgrading to Win7.
