Windows 7 Install to a new HD

I have XP Pro on one of my computers and want to install Win7 Home Premium Upgrade.
However, I would like to change the HD to a larger one and install Win7 on it.
In the past, the install program would just ask for the old disk.
Is this the case with Win7?
Or do I need to reinstall XP on the new larger HD and then do the Win7 install?

Thanks for the help.

TxPres,

You will need to have Windows XP previously installed in order for the Windows 7 Upgrade install to validate the product key. Please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually.

Thats what I was afraid of. I have moved all data to my server.
I knew I would need a "custom" install.
Looks like I will have to install XP on the new HD before upgrading to Win7.

Thanks.
