Hi,
i have a computer i got from work with Windows Vista installed on it, and i want to install Windows 7. but, in case i have to return it, i want to be able to restore it to exactly how it is now, with Vista installed and all the files and programs in place. Is there anyway i can create a hard-drive image, save it in a different partition, format and install Windows 7, and when time comes, restore Vista from the partition containing the backup image?
Thanks.

Thanks for the answer.
Actually, i don't want to mess with the box too much or spend money on a new disk. Isn't there a way to use the existing hard disk?

or,
if i create a new partition and install Windows 7 in it. Will i be able to boot into the old partition later and restore Vista's MBR?

Gabriel,

You could simply create a second partition and install Windows 7 into the second partition and automatically add to the boot loader -- in other words, create a dual boot partition. By using this method you will still be able to boot into Windows Vista should you desire as well as give you the option of always being able to revert to Win Vista.
