Windows 8 Installing Windows 8 on ex-demo pc

Hello there,

I have bought an ex-demo pc (that has previously run Windows 8. HP Pavilion 23 B090EA all-in-one desktop PC), and I am having a bit of trouble setting it up for my use.

At first, I was running into the 'no boot disk detected or disk failed' and 'Getting media test failure, check cable error'. I then tried to install Windows 8 using my USB, however, there were no drivers available to extract Windows to.

I know this isn't a great deal of information, but I am a bit stumped on how to get my PC up and running. I have downloaded a driver (storage) to my USB off the HP website whilst I am creating the installation iso to burn to a disc, hoping this will work.

Any advice on what I should do? Many thanks.

Sounds like you may have a situation involving UEFI BIOS combined with perhaps a GPT partition.
My suggestion would be to use Rufus from here http://rufus.akeo.ie/ to create the proper installer environment on a blank USB thumb drive.
