Apple’s iOS 27 public beta adds a dedicated Siri app to the iPhone Home Screen, turning the voice assistant into a persistent, chat-style service rather than something accessed only through a button, voice prompt, or system overlay.
As reported by 9to5Mac, the new app keeps a history of Siri conversations, lets users begin new threads, and syncs those conversations through iCloud so they can be continued across Apple devices. Users can also submit photos and files for Siri to analyze.
Apple announced the broader Siri AI overhaul in June, describing a version of Siri with access to personal context, onscreen awareness, and broader web knowledge. In practice, that means users can ask questions based on information in Mail, Messages, Photos, and other supported sources, then continue the exchange without restating the full context.

The standalone app is a notable change because Siri has traditionally been embedded in iOS rather than treated as a destination of its own. Apple is now putting it closer to the model used by ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and other conversational AI assistants: a place to review prior work, pick up a thread, and supply files or images for analysis.
The app does not replace the familiar Siri invocation methods. Siri remains integrated with the operating system, including voice activation and onscreen interactions. The app is intended to provide a fuller interface for longer conversations and searchable history.
Apple says the Siri app is also planned for iPadOS 27, macOS 27, visionOS 27, and watchOS 27. Apple Watch support is more limited: Apple’s June announcement said Siri AI would arrive in a future watchOS 27 beta.

Hardware and regional limits

The new Siri features require Apple Intelligence-compatible hardware. On iPhone, that means iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, plus iPhone 16 models and later. Older iPhones may receive iOS 27 itself, but they will not get the dedicated Siri app or the new Siri AI capabilities.
Apple also says Siri AI is initially available only on supported devices set to English, with additional language support to follow. The company has said the feature will not initially be available on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch in the European Union, and it is not available in China while Apple works through regulatory requirements.
For Windows users who manage mixed-device environments, the practical distinction is simple: iOS 27 compatibility does not guarantee Apple Intelligence compatibility. Any testing or support documentation should identify the iPhone model, language setting, and region before treating the new Siri app as an available feature.
The public beta is available now, but Apple recommends beta software be installed on secondary devices because of potential bugs, battery issues, and app compatibility problems.
