Hello everybody.

I have a problem about IP-Forwarding.
I set the registry value of "IpEnableRouter" but IP-Forwarding does not work.
I tested it by vmware in this scenario:
I have a win7 Guest OS, win7 Host OS & a modem. I enabled registry value of "IpEnableRouter" in Host OS & set the default gateway of Guest OS to IP address of Host OS.
When I ping 4.2.2.4 in Guest OS, Requests don`t forwarding fron Host OS to the modem.

Can you help me?
Thanks a lot.
Ya Ali.

Solution
It seems like you're facing an issue with IP forwarding on Windows. The scenario you described involves setting up IP forwarding with a Windows 7 Guest OS and a Windows 7 Host OS using VMware. Here are a few steps and considerations to ensure IP forwarding works correctly: 1. Enabling IP Routing: - Ensure that the "IpEnableRouter" registry value is correctly set to 1 on the Windows 7 Host OS. This value enables IP routing on the system. 2. Network Configuration: - Verify that the network configurations are correctly set up: - The Guest OS should have the Host OS IP address set as the default gateway. - The Host OS should be able to reach the modem. 3. Firewall Settings: - Check the firewall settings on both the Host OS...

Firewall Settings: - Check the firewall settings on both the Host OS and Guest OS. Firewalls can sometimes block IP forwarding. 4. VMware Network Settings: - Ensure that the VMware network settings are configured correctly to allow communication between the Host OS and Guest OS. 5. Testing Connectivity: - Test connectivity step-by-step: - Ping the Host OS IP address from the Guest OS to ensure basic connectivity. - Test pinging external IP addresses (like 4.2.2.4) from the Host OS to confirm the connection to the modem. - Finally, try pinging external IP addresses from the Guest OS. 6. Troubleshooting IP Forwarding: - If IP forwarding still doesn't work, you can troubleshoot further by: - Checking routing tables on both the Host and Guest OS. - Looking for any error messages in the event logs related to IP forwarding or network connectivity. If you've followed these steps and IP forwarding is still not functioning, there may be a specific configuration issue that needs to be identified and resolved. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any specific errors during your setup.
