Is there a photo viewing app that automatically rotates a picture, so if the picture is landscape then it is landscape on the screen but if it is a portrait then it is portrait on the screen, to maximize the size of the picture on the small screen? Many Android apps do this but I have not found a Windows app with this capacity.

It seems like you're looking for a photo viewing app on Windows that automatically adjusts the orientation of pictures based on whether they are landscape or portrait to maximize the size of the picture on the screen. While there isn't a native Windows app that offers this specific feature out of the box like some Android apps do, there are third-party photo viewing apps that may provide similar functionality or enhanced viewing capabilities.

Although it may not have the exact auto-rotation feature you mentioned, it provides various viewing options and supports a wide range of image formats. You can manually rotate images within IrfanView to fit the screen size as needed.
Another option is "FastStone Image Viewer," which is known for its user-friendly interface and comprehensive set of tools for viewing and managing images. While it also lacks the specific automatic orientation adjustment you're looking for, it includes features like image resizing, rotation, and cropping to optimize the viewing experience.
If you're specifically interested in maximizing screen space for different image orientations, you may want to explore these apps and their features to see if they offer a suitable solution for your needs. Keep in mind that Windows 10 also provides a built-in Photos app that supports basic viewing and editing functionalities, although it may not have the exact auto-rotation feature you're seeking.
