Windows 7 Is twain_32.dll part of Win 7?

I was having issues the other day and ran sfc/ scannow and it returned errors stating that it could not repair twain_32.dll or twain_32.dll.mui. In searching on Google I am finding disturbing results that make me think that these files are not suppose to even be there and are not part of the Win 7 core install. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

G

They are valid system files, typically associated with scanner protocols.

Pat,
Thank you for your reply. We recently removed a nasty Trojan from our system and in an attempt to get things back to normal (don't laugh I know normal and Windows do not go together) we ran the sfc via admin and safe mode. Both times it returned errors on these two. Could they be corrupt?

It may be that they have been replaced at sometime when a scanner was installed. Unless you find you have problems with your scanner I'd be tempted to leave things as they are.
