Good evening! June is upon us, and with no shortage of news or updates regarding WindowsForum.com

As of the 1st of June:

We have worked throughout most of the day to connect with Network Solutions, CloudFlare, ICANN, Google, and a number of other online institutions to resolve a problem that we have encountered with a third party site. We will release more information about this as soon as it is reasonable to do so. A true thank you must really go out to Microsoft MVP Ross Cameron (@kemical) and Joseph Stackhouse (@Josephur) for their major involvement today.

Mobile Apps
New updates have been pushed out for the mobile applications for this website (windowsforum.com). However, due to Google's new rating system for app store content, this update may take longer than usual to roll out. The binaries for these were, as usual, supplied to Apple, Inc. and Amazon.com. Expect to see these roll out in the next few days. The major changes involve a push towards TLS/SSL/HTTP2 and away from un-encrypted transactions. As always, you can find the latest mobile app links right here.

Good morning June is still upon us, so here's more updates for WindowsForum.com!

Problem Solved
In the previous post, I talked about a problem encountered with a third party site. This issue appears to be resolved and involved a phishing site that had copied our public content with a web crawler and embedded garbage malware. No security risk took place on our end. It appears we may have had success in having it taken down.

Internal Search Engine Update
This morning, the internal search engine we used was updated to the latest version. This is elasticsearch 1.5.2.

  • Windows 8 Countdown Clock restored for Windows 10
  • PONG page works again!
